NFL: Super Bowl LII-Philadelphia Eagles vs New England Patriots Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

The Eagles won it all about 9 months ago. Guess what that means... - 6ABC
A number of local hospitals are reporting something of a baby boom, and it’s not overly difficult to figure out why. About nine months ago, the Philadelphia Eagles won the big game, and people flooded the streets to celebrate. But it seems many couples continued the celebration at home. Now, many are welcoming what nurses call the “Super Bowl babies!” Action News health reporter Ali Gorman introduces us to some families who will have a life-long reminder of the Birds’ long-awaited championship!

PFF’s top 5 graded Eagles’ through the first half - BGN
Is there anything in football more divisive than Pro Football Focus grades? No? Good. Fact is, you either hate them or love them, but I do believe that they serve as a solid guide and are necessary to their business model. With that in mind, let’s see who PFF has as the top 5 graded players on the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles halfway through the season.

At the Podium #8.5: Howie Roseman On Acquiring Golden Tate - BGN Radio
Double-header press conferences on this special episode of At the Podium! First, Doug Pederson gives updates on the team and their outlook after the win against the Jaguars. Second, Howie Roseman has struck again, this time right before the trade deadline and it’s for Detroit Lions’ WR Golden Tate! Hear his thoughts on the matter right here!

Film Room: Carson Wentz - Football Outsiders
Every YAC-oriented pass Agholor has caught this season feels like he missed out on opportunities to break tackles or fight for an extra few yards. There will soon be a world where Tate is catching these passes without clumsily spinning into his own blockers’ backs or failing to generate any acceleration upon receiving the ball. In turn, the Eagles will find themselves more consistently ahead of the chains and generating more explosive plays due to Tate’s savvy as a ballcarrier. Simply reducing the amount of wasted touches afforded to Agholor should help the Eagles’ offense immensely. As Wentz continues to light up opposing defenses and Tate enters the fray to boost an already ascending passing offense, the numbers will start to reflect how good this Eagles’ passing attack is. The Eagles are on track, and now better equipped, to compete with any team in the league on the back of their passing offense.

Beloved Eagle Jon Dorenbos returns to the city he loves this weekend at SugarHouse - PhillyVoice
“The fans, 100 percent. I love Philly, and I love SugarHouse,” replied Dorenbos when asked why he likes performing in Philadelphia. “It’s great to be in front of the home crowd. When I was done playing, the thing I missed was the energy, passion and love. It’s what the city represents, so for me to come out here and get in front of these fans who want to see me, it’s extremely flattering and humbling. All I want to do is hang out with the fans, and I want my show to feel like we’re all hanging out, having a beer and just having a good time.”

Striking While the Iron is Hot - Iggles Blitz
Eagles fans can look back to the Reid era to see plenty of wasted opportunities. The 2001 team played really good defense. They didn’t give up more than 21 points in any game during the regular season. Then Troy Vincent got hurt in January and the Eagles couldn’t beat the high-flying Rams. The 2002 team had great OL play, great defense and great overall chemistry. They ran into the Bucs and one of the greatest defenses of all time. The 2003 team had to deal with a lot of injuries, but saw Brian Westbrook emerge as a star. Then he got hurt in the season finale and the team lost in the NFC title game for the third straight year. The 2017 Eagles overcame injuries. They overcame facing a great Vikings defense in the NFC title game. They overcame Tom Brady and Bill Belichick in the Super Bowl. That really was a special team.

A Look At Big Picture For Eight Crucial Weeks Ahead - PE.com
The Eagles anticipate that some of their injured players are going to return healthy and positively impact the playoff picture. Running back Darren Sproles (hamstring) hasn’t played since Week 1, so he’s got to be close. Dallas? Maybe. We’ll see how his hamstring responds next week when the Eagles push him more. Tight end Richard Rodgers? He’s eligible to return from Injured Reserve after suffering a knee injury in the preseason. Rodgers is a good inline blocker and showed in the summer and in the preseason that he can also help in the passing game as a receiver. Safety Corey Graham came close to returning in London and could very well be good to go for Dallas. Cornerback Sidney Jones? He’s been out a few weeks with a hamstring injury and has made progress in his recovery. Getting Jones back would be a nice boost for a secondary riddled with injury. Defensive tackle Tim Jernigan? No real word on when he might play again after suffering a back injury in the offseason, other than Pederson saying a few times that Jernigan has made “good progress” with his rehab. Jernigan would be a very nice addition for a late-season push. Wide receivers Mack Hollins (groin) and Mike Wallace (leg) remain on Injured Reserve with no timetable in sight for their return.

The PFF Midseason All-Rookie Team - PFF
TE Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles – 72.1 Overall Grade. The former South Dakota State tight end has very much lived up to his scouting report over the first eight weeks of the season, catching all 18 of his catchable targets for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Over the first half of the campaign, Goedert has caught two contested passes, forced two missed tackles and has generated a passer rating of 107.5 on his red-zone targets, which is the fifth-best mark among all tight ends with at least five red-zone targets this season.

Projecting 2020 roster locks, bubble players for all 32 NFL teams - ESPN
Virtual locks: WR Alshon Jeffery, DT Fletcher Cox, T Lane Johnson, TE Zach Ertz, G Brandon Brooks, S Malcolm Jenkins, DE Derek Barnett, CB Sidney Jones, TE Dallas Goedert, WR Mack Hollins, DB Avonte Maddox, QB Carson Wentz, CB Rasul Douglas, C Jason Kelce. The work the Eagles have done in locking up their core over the next two years means they can keep a good amount of their talent around, even after Wentz gets a new extension. The question becomes timing: Do the Eagles sign Wentz after this season and sacrifice a year at a bargain price to save money on his extension, or do they wait until the 2020 offseason and pay a steeper price? This is a good problem to have.

All-22: Cox and Co. — Defensive line is driving Eagles’ success stopping the run - The Athletic
A lack of consistency has haunted the Eagles in all three facets of the game but one thing that has carried over from last year, on the defensive side of the ball, is how they are defending the run. In 2017, the Eagles ranked first in run defense, surrendering only 79.2 yards per game. In 2018, despite obvious struggles, the Eagles currently have the fourth-best run defense, allowing 83.8 yards per game. One interesting tidbit: The Eagles have given up 179 rushing yards (5.3 YPC) to quarterbacks. This means they are allowing only 61.4 yards per game on average to opposing running backs.

Exclusive interview with Hue Jackson: ‘I know I would’ve turned our offense around’ - Cleveland.com
Did you want Carson Wentz at No. 2 in 2016? ”Oh my gosh, yes. Did I like Carson Wentz? Hell yes. He did something that no other quarterback did. I give them three minutes to memorize the book and put on the (white) board. He put it all on the board in two minutes and 48 seconds. I’ve never had a guy do that ever in my coaching career. But the plan was never to take a quarterback that year. It was all about trading back to get picks. If you’re doing that you’ve got to pick the right players.’’

Silva’s Week 9 Matchups - Rotoworld
The Skins continued to put their run-the-ball, stop-the-run philosophy into successful Week 8 action, improving to 5-2 as Adrian Peterson logged 25-plus touches for the second straight game. He hit pay dirt early on a seven-yard receiving score after making Giants MLB Nathan Stupar miss and sealed the deal late on a 64-yard breakaway sprint. Peterson tied Barry Sanders for most 50-plus-yard touchdown runs in league history (15), while the receiving TD was All Day’s first since 2013. With Chris Thompson (ribs) again ailing, Peterson’s feature-back usage is all-but unchallenged drawing a Falcons defense that has allowed enemy backs to average a crisp 4.34 yards per carry and score nine TDs in seven games. … Kapri Bibbs logged touch counts of 3 and 6 on snap rates of 47% and 38% when Thompson missed Weeks 6 and 7. Bibbs ran 39 routes compared to Peterson’s 23 in those games and offers desperate PPR viability against a Falcons defense allowing a league-high 8.9 catches per game to running backs. … Matchups haven’t mattered for game-manager Alex Smith, who has thrown 20-plus yards downfield on just 11% of attempts with a repulsive 28% completion rate after connecting on 53% of such passes last year. Merely a two-quarterback-league play, Smith has finished as the fantasy QB16 or worse in six straight starts.

With trade window closed, DeSean Jackson embraces Tampa - PFT
Jackson’s attitude about playing in Tampa possibly changed once Ryan Fitzpatrick was re-inserted as the starter. With Jameis Winston playing, Jackson didn’t have quite the same impact. It was believed over the weekend that one specific team that wanted badly to acquire Jackson (perhaps the Eagles) had leaked the news that Jackson asked to be traded.

Tracking the 2018 NFL MVP race - SB Nation
Wentz got his Eagles back up to .500 with a win over the Jaguars in their home-away-from-home, London. While he threw for three touchdowns, he also showed off the versatility that makes him so dangerous. His surgically repaired knee didn’t prevent him from a season-high 28 rushing yards, and he even caught his first pass of the season. From himself! But Wentz’s odds are about to go up with new addition Golden Tate in town. The former Detroit Lion, added at the cost of a third-round pick, is averaging 1,056 receiving yards per season over his last four years. Putting him in a rotation with Alshon Jeffery, Zach Ertz, Nelson Agholor, and Jordan Matthews gives him a wide range of capable wideouts for the second half of 2018.

Report: Cowboys DT David Irving suffers high-ankle sprain - Blogging The Boys
It appears to be a high-ankle sprain, which is good because it can heal this year, but is bad because it can linger for a while.
