Eagles place Ronald Darby on injured reserve, promote practice squad cornerback

Secondary changes.

The Philadelphia Eagles placed starting cornerback Ronald Darby on injured reserve and signed practice squad defensive back De’Vante Bausby to the 53-man roster, according to an official announcement from the team.

Darby suffered a season-ending ACL injury during the Eagles’ Week 10 game against the Cowboys. It’s possible he may never play for Philadelphia again considering he’s set to be a free agent following the 2018 NFL season.

With both Darby and Jalen Mills our against the Saints, it’s looking like Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas will start at cornerback. The 2017 draft picks will have a tough task as they go up against the league’s top scoring team.

Bausby spent the 2017 season on the Eagles’ practice squad before contending for a roster spot during the 2018 offseason. He ultimately lost out to Jones in the battle for the starting nickel cornerback spot.

Adding Bausby to the roster gives the Eagles more depth at corner. It also opens up a spot on the practice squad.

This transaction seems to indicate the Eagles won’t be activating Timmy Jernigan to the 53-man roster prior to the Saints game. Philadelphia only has until 4:00 PM today to make that move.

Here’s an updated look at the Eagles’ practice squad:

TE Will Tye
