Eagles Injury Report: Updates on Sidney Jones, Mike Wallace, and other players

Update on Philadelphia’s injury situation.

NFL: Indianapolis Colts at Philadelphia Eagles Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles released their second official injury report on Thursday in advance of their Week 11 game against the New Orleans Saints.

The big news is that Sidney Jones was upgraded to being a full participant after being limited on Thursday. He seems to be on track to play in Sunday’s game. It’ll be interesting to see how Jones lines up. The Eagles could have him start on the boundary opposite of Rasul Douglas as opposed to letting him resume his previous role as a nickel cornerback.

Malcolm Jenkins was a full participant for the second day in a row. For those who didn’t see, the Eagles made him a late addition to the Wednesday injury report. He’s dealing with a wrist issue that apparently requires a cast.

Four players did NOT practice on Thursday: Ronald Darby, Jalen Mills, Joshua Perkins, and Darren Sproles. No surprises there. Darby and Perkins seem bound to end up on injured reserve. Mills being out for the second day in a row likely confirms he won’t play on Sunday. Sproles is still a couple weeks from potentially returning.

Two players were limited in practice: Lane Johnson and Haloti Ngata.

Johnson has been limited in practice ever since last week. It’s hard to gauge if he’ll actually be able to play. I’d guess it’s more likely he doesn’t suit up. If that’s the case, Halapoulivaati Vaitai will continue to be a liability at right tackle.

Ngata did not practice at all on Wednesday so being upgraded to limited is something, I guess. He might end up being questionable for this week’s game. We’ll have to see how he does on Friday.

Mike Wallace was seen watching Thursday’s practice. His walking boot is off now. After practice, Wallace told reporters he believes he’ll play this year. It sounds like a December return is possible. The Eagles could certainly use the vertical threat Wallace provides. If the Eagles choose to designate Wallace for return, he’ll be the second and final player on injured reserve who will receive that designation. In other words, Mack Hollins won’t be eligible to be activated.

Richard Rodgers and Timmy Jernigan participated in practice once again. The Eagles have 19 days remaining to activate Rodgers from injured reserve and 11 to activate Jernigan from the non-football injury list. If the team plans on having them for Sunday’s game, the player(s) must be activated to the 53-man roster before 4:00 PM ET on Saturday.
