Eagles Fans Rooting Guide for NFL Week 5 Games

Here are the teams you should be rooting for ... and against.

NFL: Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Here’s a look at which teams Philadelphia Eagles fans should be rooting for during NFL Week 5 games.

EAGLES GAME

Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles: Big game. Eagles win and they’re back on track at 3-2 with a game against New York coming up on Thursday. Good opportunity to get to 4-2 if they don’t mess it up. Dropping the Vikings to 1-3-1 would also be real nice. Root for the Eagles, of course.

NFC EAST GAMES

New York Giants at Carolina Panthers: Is it impossible to bounce back from 1-3? No. Do I think the Giants are done, though? Yes. The Panthers could be the bigger threats to Philadelphia’s playoff interests here. I wouldn’t mind the Giants getting a very unimpressive win and perhaps getting a little overconfident before hosting the Eagles on Thursday. Also wouldn’t hate the Giants dropping to 1-4 as a consolation prize. Root against the Panthers.

Dallas Cowboys at Houston Texans: Dear Deshaun Watson and J.J. Watt, please have really great games this week. Drop the Cowboys to 2-3. Root for the Texans.

Washington Redskins at New Orleans Saints: Seeing the Saints lose wouldn’t be the worst thing but Washington is the bigger threat to the Eagles’ playoff aspirations right now. No brainer to root against them. Root for the Saints.

NFC GAMES

Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers: Root for the AFC team over the NFC team. Root for the Steelers.

Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions: Keep Aaron Rodgers away from the playoffs, please. Root for the Lions.

Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers: Need the Cardinals to stay winless so they can get a better draft pick than the Giants/Cowboys. Although you could root for the 49ers to look bad and struggle with C.J. Beathard so they panic trade for Nick Foles. Seems unlikely though. Root for the 49ers.

Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks have a chance to spoil LA’s undefeated record. Let’s hope it happens. Root for the Seahawks.

DRAFT PICK WATCH

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns: The Ravens keep winning, which is bad. Need Baltimore to start losing to make that 2019 second-round pick better for the Eagles. Do us a solid here, Baker Mayfield. Root for the Browns.

WHAT’S LEFT

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills: The Eagles’ loss to the Titans would look even worse if they manage to lose to the Bills. Root for the Titans.

Denver Broncos at New York Jets: Really need Sam Darnold to start looking better in order to torture the Giants. Root for the Jets.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs: The Eagles play the Jags in Week 8. It’d be nice to see cracks in Jacksonville’s armor. Root for the Chiefs.

Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals: Need the Bengals to stay ahead of the Ravens. Root for the Bengals.

Oakland Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers: Who cares.

BYE WEEKS

Chicago Bears: The Bears return to action next week with a road game in Miami.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Next up for the Bucs is a road game in Atlanta.
