The Eagles have had a lot to celebrate this year, and with the team’s very first Super Bowl win back in February, traditions and expectations throughout Philadelphia have changed.
After a 26 year run, WIP radio hosts Angelo Cataldi and Al Morganti announced that the Wing Bowl is one of those no-longer-needed traditions.
The annual event was hosted by the radio station and drew thousands of fans to the Wells Fargo Center the Friday before each Super Bowl. Host Al Morganti came up with the idea as a way to get the city through years of the Eagles missing out on the championship weekend — but, that’s no longer the case.
Morganti admitted, “It’s like that Greek god who put the rock up the hill. It went over...They won the Super Bowl!”
So now, instead of celebrating Super Bowl weekend with some binge eating and general debauchery on your way to forgetting that the Eagles have never won one, you can instead revel in the fact that in 2018, the Eagles beat Tom Brady on their way to a shiny new ring.
That’s got to be enough, right?
(Ok, so it’s not enough, and I want another win... but it’ll do for now.)
