It appears Haloti Ngata is returning to the starting lineup for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 8 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. The veteran defensive tackle shared the following message via his official Twitter account this morning:
I’m baaaaack. #flyeaglesfly @ Wembley Stadium https://t.co/H7rmkSgbdm
— Haloti Ngata (@Haloti_Ngata92) October 28, 2018
This return makes sense because Ngata was a full participant in Friday’s practice despite being ruled questionable on the final injury report.
Ngata has been dealing with a calf injury that caused him to miss Philadelphia’s last three games. The Eagles have been very thin at defensive tackle without him. Last week, the depth behind Fletcher Cox included just practice squad signing Treyvon Hester and undrafted rookie free agent Bruce Hector. Not ideal.
The 34-year-old Ngata obviously isn’t a game-changing player for the Eagles. But he’s been solid. During his four games played, Ngata had six tackles, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and one sack. His presence gives the Eagles much-needed depth. Now Michael Bennett and Brandon Graham shouldn’t have to be relied on as much on the interior, which is important with Derek Barnett going down for the season at defensive end.
The Eagles will release their official inactives list around 8:00 AM ET. Keep in mind the Eagles and Jaguars kick off at 9:30 AM ET.
