Prior to the Dallas Cowboys trading a first-round pick to the Oakland in exchange for Amari Cooper, the Philadelphia Eagles reportedly tried to acquire the Raiders’ two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver. NFL Network’s Michael Silver reports Howie Roseman offered up a second-round pick last week.
The Eagles have two second-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft and Philadelphia could use wide receiver help, so it’s not like this report is hard to believe.
That price still seems like a lot to give up for an underachieving player like Cooper, though. And that associated risk is ultimately what prevented the Eagles from outbidding the Cowboys, who are rolling the dice on Cooper’s upside.
The Eagles’ failed offer to Oakland is just more evidence that Roseman is trying to upgrade Philadelphia’s offensive weapons. There was a report on Sunday that the Eagles have reached out to the Dolphins about DeVante Parker.
It’d be pretty surprising if the Eagles don’t make a deal before next week’s October 30 deadline. The 3-4 Eagles clearly need help and they’re putting offers out there. So far, they haven’t met the asking price.
