Again and again, the players for the Philadelphia Eagles prove to be even greater men off the field than they are on it.
Tight end Zach Ertz was named the NFLPA Community MVP for Week 5 after making an $80,000 donation to Mission of Hope: Haiti, creating the Ertz Family Foundation Haiti Scholarship Program.

Zach, along with his all-star soccer-playing wife Julie, created the Ertz Family Foundation this offseason as an opportunity for them to give back to communities both near and far.
“I am beyond honored to have been named the NFLPA Week 5 Community MVP,” Ertz said. “My wife Julie and I are driven to make positive and enduring change in our beloved city of Philadelphia, in California, in Haiti and around the world.”
In the offseason, Zach joined Carson Wentz and other teammates on a mission trip to Haiti, that has now become an annual bonding trip for many of the Eagles players.
The tight end worked hard during the trip, helping build and paint local buildings and schools, and now he’s interested in supporting the people of Haiti financially by launching a scholarship program for orphaned students.
“He saw that there were so many lives that you could touch and help,” Julie explained. “We really want to give back, especially because we’ve had so many people who have been good to us.”
In honor of the Ertz’s efforts, the NFLPA will also make a $10,000 contribution to their foundation (or charity of choice), along with an in-kind donation on behalf of Delta Private Jets.
Being named Communty MVP also makes Ertz eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the highest honor that the NFLPA can bestow upon a player.
