The Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles staved off the panic button by trouncing the New York Giants in a 34-13 blowout and it was exactly the type of performance we needed headed into this long week.
The win moves the Eagles to 3-3 and in firm contention for the NFC East lead moving forward. It also puts the Giants on the outside looking in despite what their fans were sold when they passed on a quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Eli Manning was sacked four times while posting an inefficient 24/43, 281-yard, 0 TD, 1 INT stat line in a night full of check downs. Rookie stud Saquon Barkley amassed 229 total yards which highlighted the tackling issues that still remain for the Eagles but ultimately proved meaningless.
Carson Wentz lit things up with three scores and looked the best he has since returning to action. Nelson Agholor, Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz all made key plays to make it a big night for Wentz. The offensive game-plan was stellar and the adjustments made after some early line struggles were effective, allowing this offense to finally get in rhythm while largely avoiding bad, drive killing penalties.
Best of all? The Giants quit. There’s no other way to put it. Barkley and Odell (despite his halftime “IV”) looked like the only players with a pulse after the game started getting out of hand and the New York media is in a feeding frenzy. There’s also this great clip of Pat Shurmur showing frustration with his risk averse quarterback.
