The Philadelphia Eagles would’ve dropped to last place in the NFC East if they lost to the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football.
But that did not happen.
Instead, the Eagles handled the Giants with relative ease on their way to a 34-13 victory. As a result, the reigning Super Bowl champions are now back in first place where they rightfully belong.
Let’s take an updated look at the standings.
1 - Philadelphia Eagles (3-3)
2 - Washington Redskins (2-2)
3 - Dallas Cowboys (2-3)
4 - New York Giants (1-5)
The Eagles currently have the tie-breaker over Washington when it come to division wins. The Eagles are 1-0 while Washington hasn’t played an NFC East opponent yet.
Washington has an opportunity to jump back into first if they can beat the Panthers at home this Sunday. NFL odds currently have Washington as one-point favorites. Eagles fans should be rooting hard for Carolina this weekend.
Elsewhere, the Cowboys will be looking to avoid dropping to 2-4 as they host the Jaguars. NFL odds have Jacksonville entering the game as three-point road favorites. Cowboys fans are expecting a loss, for what it’s worth.
If all goes well for the Eagles, the division could look like this after Sunday’s Week 6 games:
1 - Philadelphia Eagles (3-3)
2 - Washington Redskins (2-3)
3 - Dallas Cowboys (2-4)
4 - New York Giants (1-5)
Plenty of season left to go still, of course, but that’d be nice.
