Le’Veon Bell believes Eagles would be interested in signing him in free agency

About that ...

Last week, NFL insider Jason La Canfora called the Philadelphia Eagles a “sleeper team” to watch when it comes to a potential Le’Veon Bell trade. A few days later, he reported that the Eagles DO have interest in trading for Bell.

If Bell’s belief is any indication, the Steelers won’t be moving him this year. The star running back recently told ESPN he doesn’t expect to be traded upon returning to the team during Pittsburgh’s Week 7 bye. But ESPN is reporting the Steelers are still open to shipping him out of Pittsburgh.

It remains to be seen what happens on that front. In the meantime, Bell is already talking about some of his options for when he becomes a free agent after the 2018 season. Something makes him believe the Eagles will be one of his suitors, apparently.

Bell believes the Jets, 49ers, Colts, Browns and Eagles would be among teams interested in his services on the free agent market. He’d want to go to a team that values his skill set and winning.

It’s hard to believe the Eagles will be interested in signing Bell to a big-money contract. Philadelphia is already projected to be tight on cap space and it’s hard to see Howie Roseman allocating those limited resources to a running back.

Perhaps Bell is just throwing the Eagles’ name out there because he’s seen the reports that Philly is interested in him. Or maybe he’s heard something to make him believe it. Who knows.

In any case, I still don’t think the Eagles are going to get Bell. But there continues to be some buzz about the possibility.
