The final game in the Wild Card round of the 2018 NFL Playoffs schedule features an NFC South rivalry matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers.
The Saints already defeated the Panthers twice in the regular season. Those games weren’t really all that close, either. New Orleans clearly looked the better side in both contests. In addition, teams that have gone 2-0 against an opponent in the regular season are 13-7 against that same opponent in the playoffs. (Credit to James Seltzer for pointing that out on this week’s BGN Radio SportsRadio 94WIP episode.) It’s no surprise, then, that the Saints are seven-point favorites to beat Carolina on Sunday.
Due to the No. 6 seed Falcons beating the No. 3 seed Rams on Saturday evening, the winner of today’s matchup between the No. 4 seed Saints and No. 5 seed Panthers will move on to play the No. 2 seed Vikings in the Divisional Round next weekend. That game will take place in Minnesota.
There’s an argument Eagles fans should be rooting for the Panthers to win today because the Saints are a bigger threat to Philly. Plus Carolina already proved they’re capable of beating the Vikings this season.
