Let's get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...
Top 30 players jerseys - NFL.com
Carson Wentz finished ahead of Tom Brady (No. 2.) Dak Prescott was No. 3, lol. Talk about buyer’s remorse.
What They’re Saying About The Eagles: NFCCG Volume I - BGN

Next LVL: Do the Eagles Have Enough to Beat the Patriots? - BGNRadio.com
Turron and Barrett Brooks go through the incredible gameplan that beat the Vikings and look ahead to how you beat this Patriots team. We go to the uPper roooooooom to look at the Eagles physicality and compare it to a few Ravens teams that have had some success against Brady & Belichick.
Former GM Mike Lombardi drops more amazing Eagles knowledge bombs - PhillyVoice
Except, um, Foles is under contract with the Eagles next season. Why exactly would they pay him “starter money” when they don’t have to? Or did Lombardi just have no idea that Foles wasn’t a free agent? The reality is that the Eagles are in a fantastic situation as a result of Foles’ surprisingly good play. It is in no way a dilemma.
This Is About Us - Iggles Blitz
Doug Pederson was asked about how he would handle the Eagles going up against the Patriots and all of their accomplishments. It is easy for the Patriots to seem bigger than life when you think about everything that team has accomplished over the years. If the team sees Tom Brady as the greatest QB of his generation and a future Hall of Famer, they’re in trouble. The Eagles need to look at Brady as this week’s opponent. That isn’t trying to diminish his accomplishments, but rather not to let all that history be a factor in the game. Pederson made a brilliant comment. ‘This can’t be about the Patriots. This has to be about us.’ Somebody give that man a bag of Funyuns. That’s the perfect answer. It really ties into my recent posts about how good this team has been all year. If the Eagles execute…if the Eagles eliminate mistakes…they will win this game.
Eagle Eye: How Jim Schwartz Tricked The Vikings - PE.com
After looking at the offense’s performance against the Minnesota Vikings, it’s now time to study a stout defensive outing against a tough unit to keep out of the end zone. The Eagles gave up a touchdown on the opening drive and, after that, kept the Vikings from scoring. To me, the defensive performance all started up front with another nearly dominant outing from the defensive line. Fletcher Cox was phenomenal once again, making plays in the run game and generating pressure on Case Keenum all game long. Tim Jernigan owned the line of scrimmage. Brandon Graham was his usual relentless self. Vinny Curry was active against the run and the pass. Derek Barnett had, arguably, the biggest play of the entire game. Chris Long was outstanding all night long. Here are some of my highlights from the group, starting with No. 91 on the inside.
Chris Long called Eagles in free agency, not the other way around - ESPN
Chris Long took free agency and turned it upside down the same way he often does opposing quarterbacks. Rather than wait for a call from an NFL team last year, he pinpointed where he wanted to go and made sure it happened. The defensive end revealed this week how the process went down just months after he won a ring with the team the Philadelphia Eagles are playing next Sunday in Super Bowl LII, the New England Patriots. Incapable of sitting and waiting for things to unfold, Long proactively cold-called Eagles exec Howie Roseman. He wanted to play in Philadelphia after a conversation with former Eagle and current Los Angeles Ram Connor Barwin.
Philadelphia’s Jason Kelce is a road grader and PFF’s best run-blocker - PFF
A combination of Pederson scheming more to Kelce’s strengths and Kelce getting stronger flipped the All-Pro switch once again inside the Eagles center. He’s been dominant in the run game, from the first snap to the last, with only one sub-par graded game all season. His 95.9 run-blocking grade isn’t just the highest among centers, it’s the highest of any offensive lineman in the NFL this season and a career-high.
Word of Muth: Patriots Dominate - Football Outsiders
The Patriots are heading back to the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year. New England needed to come from behind to win the AFC Championship Game, but to me at least, it seemed almost inevitable. Bill Belichick and Tom Brady simply did what it is they seemingly always do, and found a way to win a close game late. For me, the story of the AFC Championship Game was New England’s ability to protect Brady. The Patriots didn’t have much of run game (and seemingly didn’t plan to have much of one), so this game was going to come down to how well their offensive line could hold up in pass protection. They certainly did their part.
The One Patriots Stat That Eagles Fans Probably Don’t Want To Hear - FiveThirtyEight
Since 2001, the year that Tom Brady took over as starting quarterback, the Patriots are 15-0 in the playoffs against a new opponent and 12-9 in a rematch from the regular season. Every playoff exit in the Belichick era was a rematch, including season sweeps at the hands of the 2005 Broncos, 2006 Colts, 2011 Giants, 2012 Ravens and 2015 Broncos. The 2010 Jets also beat the Patriots in the playoffs, despite losing 45-3 in Foxborough just six weeks prior.
McMahon’s wisdom, Ertz on Gronk and more in Roob’s observations - NBC Sports Philadelphia
I asked Fletcher Cox Friday what his reaction was to people doubting the sincerity of his statement on Thursday that he’s never watched a Super Bowl. He responded, “I don’t give a [bleep] what people think of me and I don’t give a [bleep] what people say about me and I don’t give a [bleep] what people write about me. All I care about is that there’s nobody out there who can block me 1-on-1.” Gotta love Fletch.
Why the D-line gives the Eagles their best chance to win the Super Bowl - Inquirer
Fletcher Cox and company will have their hands full against Tom Brady and the Patriots. But the Eagles defensive line has the edge up front. They likely hold the keys to a victory in Super Bowl LII.
Orlovsky: Five keys to how the Eagles can beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl - The Athletic
Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz’s ability to prevent anything deep over the head of his DBs, but also suffocate the dink-and-dunk pass game of the Vikings, is what stood out in film review of the NFC Championship game. This is a formula that needs to be a part of Philly’s Super Bowl plan as well. The Eagles want to negate the Patriots’ offense. Yes, Brady and the Patriots’ offense will get their yards, but make them earn every one. The Patriots’ offense is littered with pre-snap shifts and motions; they do it to gather information for their players before the ball is snapped, and force the defense to communicate. The Eagles need to have championship-level communication on defense, from the first snap through the last. Don’t give New England anything free because you forgot to talk. The Eagles’ motto needs to be bend, but don’t break. When New England gets down in the red zone, can Schwartz and his players scheme a few ways to get off the field on third down and make the Patriots trot Stephen Gostkowski out? If the Eagles can find a way to turn two Brady-led red-zone drives into six points and not 14, the parade is one step closer.
Doug Pederson Has Been The Class Of The 2016 Coaching Class - Football Perspective
Clearly, Kelly, McAdoo, and Mularkey were failures. The book is still out on Koetter, Gase, and Jackson, but it’s not looking good for any of the three (particularly Jackson). And then there’s Doug Pederson. The Eagles head coach has had two strong seasons, thanks in part to stability at the corodinator position with Frank Reich and Jim Schwartz. Since arriving in Philadelphia, the Eagles rank 4th in points scored, 5th in points allowed, and 2nd in points differential.
Nigel Bradham fined $9,115 for facemask - PFT
The NFL fined Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham $9,115 for a facemask penalty in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.
Super Bowl 2018: Football Outsiders looked at 4 worst Patriots games of 2017 to see if Eagles could find a way to win - Pats Pulpit
What can be taken from these games, though, is how these teams disrupted Brady and the weapons he was playing alongside. The Buccaneers pressured Brady on 40% of his dropbacks and the Dolphins affected Brady on 36% of his dropbacks (according to Pro Football Focus), which rank among the highest pressure rates against the Patriots all year and join the Los Angeles Chargers (almost 50% pressure rate) as the outings with the three lowest point totals of the season. The Eagles have a fantastic pass rush and they will have to affect Brady all evening if they are going to disrupt the Patriots march towards another championship. There isn’t much Philadelphia can take from the Patriots performances over the first five weeks of the season, but pressuring Brady is always the blueprint to success.
The Patriots are optimistic that Rob Gronkowski will be cleared from the concussion protocol before the Super Bowl - SB Nation
Rob Gronkowski left the Patriots’ AFC Championship matchup against the Jaguars after getting hit in the helmet by Barry Church. Gronkowski was immediately taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion, which the medical staff confirmed. The team ruled him out for the remainder of the game. He’s in the league’s concussion protocol now, but the team is “optimistic” that he’ll be cleared to practice and play in the Super Bowl against the Eagles.
