Your Philadelphia Eagles are going to the Super Bowl.
I still can’t believe it.
I’ve been sitting here in the press box at Lincoln Financial Field, staring down at the field where the Philadelphia Eagles just defeated the Minnesota Vikings in the 2018 NFC Championship Game.
And the Eagles didn’t just merely “defeat” the Vikings. They freaking kicked their ass. The final score was 38 to 7. The Vikings scored a touchdown on their first drive and that was it for them. It was a shutout from that moment on.
This game was very fitting. Much like the Eagles’ 2017 season, it defied expectation.
But while everyone should certainly take some time to celebrate this moment, the Eagles are not done yet.
They still have one game to go, and it’s the biggest challenge they’ve faced yet.
Tom Brady. Bill Belichick. The New England Patriots.
Beating them will be anything but easy.
As we saw last year when the Altanta Falcons blew a 28-3 lead, the Patriots are almost never truly out of a game.
But you’d also be mistaken if you count out this Eagles team. They’ve proven people wrong at every turn.
The Eagles have Doug Pederson — an unlikely hero who’s increasingly looking like one of the top coaches in the NFL. The Eagles have the best offensive line in the NFL. The Eagles have a smothering defense.
And the Eagles have Nick Foles, who was outstanding against Minnesota. He really stuck it to his doubters, myself included.
This year has been so special. Now there’s only thing left to do ...
... win the whole. fucking. thing.
