Episode #293 crew: John Barchard, James Seltzer
John and James break down an intense, gutsy 15-10 Eagles' playoff win over the Falcons.
The fellas begin by reveling in the Eagles' first playoff win since 2008, and praising the team for using their underdog status as fuel for a victory.
The guys hand out a bunch of game balls for the win, chief among them to Doug Pederson for a masterful performance in his first playoff game as a head coach. Pederson pulled all the right strings, confirming that regardless of whether he wins the award or not, he truly is the coach of the year.
In addition to Pederson, John and James recognize the play of Nick Foles, who despite a sluggish start, stepped up an answered the call when it mattered most. Pederson certainly helped by putting him in good situations to succeed, but the quarterback executed when it counted and the BGN crew was happy to applaud him for it.
Speaking of applause, the crowd at the Linc brought it, and absolutely had an impact on how the game played out. The guys discuss the impact that this amazing fanbase had in helping the team gut out the first home playoff win in 12 years.
Ultimately though, this game was won by the defense. With Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham leading the way, the Eagles defense dominated a talented Atlanta offense, culminating with a thrilling 4th and goal stop to close out the game. The fellas shout out the defense (and Jim Schwartz) for showing up we needed them the most.
The guys also laud the play of the offensive line, look ahead to the NFC Championship game, and much more.
