NFL: Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

Another long offseason is over. Philadelphia Eagles football is back this Sunday. Finally.

It’s an exciting team of year! The Eagles are kicking off Year 2 of the Carson Wentz and Doug Pederson era. The expectation is that the Birds will be improved this year after making some upgrades through free agency and the 2017 NFL Draft.

But none of the Eagles’ improvement on paper matters if they don’t prove themselves in the real games. Philadelphia will have a chance to do just that in Week 1.

The way I see it, the Eagles couldn’t have asked for a better opening matchup. The Eagles are set to play a team they haven’t been able to beat in nearly three years: the Washington Redskins.

Washington has won the last five games in this series. Furthermore, the Eagles haven’t won at Washington’s home stadium dating back to 2013. In other words, it’s been way too long.

This is a big test right out of the gate for the Eagles. Can the Birds get the monkey off their back and start the season off strong? Or does a loss here send everyone into a September panic? Just the first game and there’s already a lot on the line. Just another reason why football is the best and we’re all so glad it’s back.

Here's everything you need to know about how to watch the game.
