The Philadelphia Eagles are one of six teams “very much in the mix” for free agent cornerback Joe Haden, according to NFL insider Jason La Canfora. Haden is reportedly expected to sign with a new team in the next 24 hours.
The Cleveland Browns released Haden earlier on Wednesday after failing to trade him.
Should the Eagles have interest in Haden? In my view, it doesn’t hurt for Philadelphia to kick the tires on him, but I ultimately think a Haden signing doesn’t make much sense.
Another thing to consider with this type of report is that the Eagles are one of many teams listed. That’s typically a signal the report is coming from an agent (Drew Rosenhaus, in this case) who is trying to do his job and drive up his client’s value. The Eagles are a logical inclusion since they’re not strong at the corner position.
I wouldn’t be shocked if Haden ends up signing with a Pennsylvania NFL team. Just not the one located on the east side of the Keystone State.
Steelers are the favorite to land former Browns CB Joe Haden.
