The Philadelphia Eagles have ruled out nine players ahead of their third preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. The following players are OUT and will not play.
QB Nick Foles
DE Brandon Graham
LB Jordan Hicks
TE Billy Brown
DT Destiny Vaeao
OL Josh Andrews
WR Paul Turner
CB Sidney Jones
DT Beau Allen
It’s worth noting Wendell Smallwood isn’t on this list, which means he WILL play against the Dolphins tonight. That’s good news for Philadelphia because the 2016 fifth-round pick missed the team’s first two preseason games. Now he’ll get a chance to prove himself.
The only “surprises” on this list are Brown and Vaeao. Both players practiced this week but maybe they got banged up at some point on Tuesday. Brown is pushing for a roster spot so this is unfortunate for him.
Hicks and Graham are out after suffering injuries during Monday’s practice. Neither player is seriously hurt and they’re both expected to be ready for Week 1.
Foles hasn’t played a single preseason game this summer. That’s an underrated concern.
