It looked like Odell Beckham Jr. was close to suffering a potential season-ending injury when the Giants wide receiver had his leg taken out from behind during New York’s preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Monday night. Beckham isn’t seriously hurt, it appears, but he still might miss some regular season game action.

ESPN is reporting that Beckham “could miss a week or two of the regular season” due to a sprained ankle. The Giants are scheduled to play the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 and the Detroit Lions in Week 2.

As far as the Eagles are concerned, it might be bad news that OBJ is missing the Dallas game. Two of the three games the Cowboys lost last year came against Big Blue. If you feel like Dallas is the bigger threat in the division, it’s better that the Giants win in Week 1. If Beckham’s absence lingers into Week 2, New York will have to win a home game against the Lions.

Based on ESPN’s reporting, it’s possible OBJ won’t play until Week 3, when the Giants will face the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Beckham is clearly a great player so it’ll be a big loss for the Giants if he misses any amount of time.
