NFL: Buffalo Bills at Philadelphia Eagles Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Let's get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Eagles' Derek Barnett deserving of significant role on defensive line - Daily News
The question of whether he supplants current starter Vinny Curry is less a matter of whether as it is when. While it is true that Jim Schwartz likes to rotate his defensive ends, it's also true that he called on his top two edge rushers almost twice as often as Edge No. 3 in his rookie season as Eagles defensive coordinator. In 2016, Edge No. 3 was Curry, who entered Thursday night's game against the Bills as the starter opposite Brandon Graham. Preseason depth charts mean very little. Heck, same goes for regular-season depth charts, the Eagles version of which had Mychal Kendricks listed as a starter throughout a 2016 season in which he barely played a quarter of the snaps. Still, it'll be interesting to see what how much Schwartz mixes in Barnett against the first-teamers in next week's dress-rehearsal game against the Dolphins.

Eagles-Bills Final Score: Observations from Philadelphia’s 20-16 win over Buffalo - BGN
Carson Wentz looked OK. He struggled with his accuracy on a few throws when he targeted Jeffery along the sideline. He has a tendency to sail those passes at times. Overall, though, he wasn’t bad. He was at his best on the final first team drive when Philadelphia went with a tempo offense.

John Barchard and James Seltzer recap Preseason Game #2, as they bask in the glow of a (meaningless) 20-16 win over the Bills. The guys discuss who played well, who didn't, and much more.

A week after registering two sacks, Barnett produced pressure consistently, and got home once again for another sack. It's pretty clear to me that the kid can play.

Ugly But Effective - Iggles Blitz
Forget the final score. The big story on Thursday night was the debut of CB Ronald Darby. He was fast and athletic and made multiple plays in coverage. Darby broke up one pass and picked off another. The Bills don’t have a great QB or dynamic receivers, but Darby more than passed the eye test. He looked the part of a stud corner, something the Eagles haven’t had in a long time. One game does not a trade make, but it is hard not to get excited about a talented defense now having a speedy corner who can cover top flight receivers. Jalen Mills has had a good summer (and he played well vs the Bills), but he still has his athletic limitations. You’ll never want him on Dez Bryant or Odell Beckham for a whole game.

CB Darby Leads The Way In Eagles Debut -
It’s only been a week and one quarter of one preseason game, but it’s very fair to be excited about the possibilities with cornerback Ronald Darby added to this defense. His athleticism was on display in Thursday night’s preseason 20-16 win over Buffalo when Darby had an interception and another pass defensed and made everyone aware of just what he can mean to the Eagles ...

Eagles' Ronald Darby puts on a show against former team - ESPN
One reason to be concerned: The ground game sputtered for a second straight week. The Eagles managed 40 rushing yards on 16 carries (2.5-yard average) in the first half. LeGarrette Blount had 8 yards on five carries. He now has 17 yards on nine carries through two preseason games. The offensive line, which was weakened by the absence of left tackle Jason Peters (personal reasons), has not generated much push to this point.

On the Zeke Elliott Suspension: Even a Liar Can Be Beaten and Choked - DMagazine
But after reviewing the police report of what happened in July 2016, I want to take that hug back. I will not wear an Elliott jersey. Because although Thompson may be an entirely unlikable and duplicitous human being, I believe her. Her recorded intake statement and her written statement are consistent. The pattern of the abuse described, as incredible as it may seem, fits the classic dance of domestic violence. That’s what makes it so frightening. And that is all that matters.

Carson Wentz, Eagles offense finally find some rhythm after stagnant start - CSN Philly
"Going back to last year, Coach Pederson has always had a feel for when's the right time to do that, when you kind of need a spark," Wentz said. "That's what he felt tonight. It was effective." Eventually, though, Blount caught a short pass and fumbled the ball away. That ended the first-team offense's day. But at least it got some semblance of rhythm before leaving. Still, it wasn't a strong showing from Wentz and the first unit. Pederson attributed the slow start to the lack of game-planning. He thinks things will be different once they begin preparing specifically for other defenses.

LeSean McCoy buys Philly cheesesteaks for entire Buffalo Bills team - Buffalo Rumblings
LeSean McCoy wanted to show off his old stomping grounds to all of his Buffalo Bills teammates. McCoy bought 200 cheesesteaks and orders of Crab Fries from Chickie’s & Pete’s, a restaurant in Southwest Philadelphia. That according to Jeff Skversky from 6-ABC in Philly. According to the restaurant, each meal costs around $9, so Shady will end up paying a pretty penny, roughly around $1,900 for his team to have full stomachs for their flight back from the city of brotherly love.

Harrisburg native LeSean McCoy's return to Philadelphia with Buffalo Bills is 'something special' - PennLive
"It's always special to get back to Philly," McCoy said. "This is my home, and the fans and this organization was great to me since I got here when I was 20 years old, so this is always going to be something special for me."

The NFL Conversation Domination Playbook: Volume 2 - The Undefeated
Many teams will have trouble moving the ball and scoring points this season. And with that comes one of the favorite pastimes of Brads everywhere: quarterback-bashing. Even Brads with microphones enjoy a good quarterback-bashing. Now, don’t get me wrong, some quarterbacks’ play warrants the besmirching of their family name. But let us not pile on or overly besmirch one man for what is a team effort. When Brad says, “Our QB sucks,” you can chime in with, “It’s not all on him.” Brad will likely try to beat you to the punch and bring up one of your team’s other on-field deficiencies: dropped passes, no running game, lack of a deep threat, unreliable pass protection. He won’t be wrong; at least one of those will fit. But he won’t have informed criticism for the offensive coordinator, the architect. Here are three criteria you can use to evaluate and speak intelligently about OCs.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in midseason form - SB Nation
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been consistently bad for quite some time now. It’s preseason, so the weight of what you see shouldn’t be taken too seriously, but the Jaguars missed some easy plays on Thursday.
