Eagles-Bills Preseason 2017: Game Predictions

Eagles football is back at the Linc, sort of.

There are only three weeks remaining before the 2017 NFL regular season opening night kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 7. In the meantime, there’s still some preseason action we have to get through.

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to square off against the Buffalo Bills tonight. Each team is playing their second preseason game. This tilt marks the Eagles’ first home game of the summer.

This game would have held a lot more interest (as far as preseason games can go) if Jordan Matthews was playing. Unfortunately, the former Eagles slot receiver suffered a chest injury in his first practice with Buffalo after the trade last week.

The good news for the Eagles is that Ronald Darby is expected to make his debut, as is Alshon Jeffery. It’ll be interesting to see those players suit up for the first time in front of the Philadelphia faithful at Lincoln Financial Field.

Doug Pederson said the Eagles’ starters are only expected to play a drive or two, so this game will mirror last week’s pattern. Expect to see plenty of Matt McGloin (yikes) after Carson Wentz and the starters come out of the game.

Speaking of the starters, both the first team offense and first defense looked pretty good against Green Bay last week. Let’s see if they can keep that up against Buffalo tonight.

There will be a bunch of familiar faces standing on the sideline opposite of the Eagles this evening. Former Philadelphia defensive coordinator Sean McDermott is now the head coach of the Bills. All-time Eagles leading rusher LeSean McCoy might not play too much but I’m sure we’ll hear from him at some point.

Here’s hoping for an injury-free game and an Eagles performance that isn’t as sloppy as last week.
