Ronald Darby plans on changing his “horrible” Eagles jersey number

If you’re planning on buying a Ronald Darby jersey, you might want to hold off for a little bit.

The Philadelphia Eagles cornerback is currently wearing the No. 35 jersey, which was previously worn by LeGarrette Blount, but he doesn’t plan on it staying that way for long.

Ron Darby thinks his number is horrible

“Oh yeah, this number [is] horrible,” laughed Darby when asked about it after practice on Monday. “Hopefully, I’m going to try and get out of it as fast as possible. I’m trying to work some things out behind the scenes, but you know I came in so late.”

So what numbers does Darby like?

“Something in the 20’s. I’m trying to go for that 2-8. I’ve been in [Wendell Smallwood’s] ear a little bit.”

Darby wore No. 28 with the Buffalo Bills. At Florida State, he wore No. 3.

The good news for Darby is he’ll have more options to pick from once final cuts take place. Maybe he can convince Smallwood to switch to, say, No. 26 if/when Jaylen Watkins gets cut.

Darby’s jersey could end up being a popular one if he plays well. Through two days of Eagles practice, the 23-year-old cornerback looks pretty good. The whole secondary as a whole seems improved due to his presence.
