The Philadelphia Eagles made some more roster moves on Sunday evening. The team officially signed undrafted free agent wide receiver Rashard Davis. In order to make room for Davis on the 90-man roster, the Eagles cut cornerback Mitchell White.
White signed with the Eagles shortly after the conclusion of the 2016 NFL regular season. The 27-year-old corner played in the Canadian Football League last year. White had a decent showing in OTAs but didn’t look as good when training camp started. He didn’t tackle very well at all.
The 5-9, 180 pound Davis is a Charlottesville, Virginia native. In four years at James Madison, Davis racked up 114 receptions for 1,549 yards (13.6 average) and 11 touchdowns. In 2016, Davis returned 15 punts for 426 yards (a whopping 28.4 average) and four touchdowns. That’s pretty good!
The Eagles have now signed two UDFA wide receivers since trading Jordan Matthews. Neither is likely to make the final roster but the team wanted to add more practice bodies at the position.
Here’s a highlight video of Davis (music NSFW).
