Eagles rookie safety dished out some scary big hits against the Packers

Thank goodness Malachi Dupre is OK.

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers The Post-Crescent-USA TODAY Sports

There was a very scary moment at Lambeau Field on Thursday evening. Philadelphia Eagles undrafted rookie free agent Tre Sullivan absolutely crushed rookie wide receiver Malachi Dupre (who with a huge hit. You can watch the play below.

There was no flag on this play because it wasn’t an illegal hit from Sullivan. It was vicious and brutal, for sure, but entirely legal.

Unfortunately the hit caused Dupre to lay motionless on the field before having to be carted off. The good news is the Packers announced Dupre had movement and feeling in his extremities after being taken to the hospital. Dupre also tweeted that he’s OK.

Great news.

The hit on Dupre wasn’t Sullivan’s only big play of the night. The rookie safety also popped a Packers wide receiver along the sideline.

You won’t be surprised to hear that Sullivan has a reputation for being a big hitter. He dished out a lot of physicality while playing for the Division II Shepherd Rams in college. Click here to check out his college highlights video or watch below (hat tip Jimmy Kempski).

Sullivan is one of those players who’s able to stand out more in games because he sure as hell can’t get away with dishing out these hits in practice. The rookie is a long-shot to make Philadelphia’s final roster given the Eagles’ safety depth, but he could end up on the practice squad.
