The Philadelphia Eagles have officially ruled out two starters prior to the team’s preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Starting wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and starting right guard Brandon Brooks will not play tonight.
The Jeffery news shouldn’t come as a surprise. Nor should it be a concern. BGN Radio’s John Barchard reported all along that Jeffery was unlikely to play against the Packers because the Eagles want to take a very conservative approach with his minor shoulder injury. NFL insider Adam Caplan notes Jeffery would be playing tonight if this was a regular season game. Jeffery has been a limited participant in practice since Sunday.
As for Brooks, he left practice early on Monday with an ankle injury. Free agent signing Chance Warmack is projected to start in his place. Here’s a look at the entire Eagles’ starting offensive line against Green Bay:
Left tackle - Jason Peters
Left guard - Isaac Seumalo
Center - Jason Kelce
Right guard - Chance Warmack
Right tackle - Lane Johnson
In other injury news, rookie Donnel Pumphrey will suit up tonight despite missing practice last week with a hamstring injury.
Stay tuned for more updates.
