Dorial Green-Beckham passes through waivers unclaimed

Shocker.

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Dorial Green-Beckham passed through waivers unclaimed and is now free to sign with any NFL team, per the league’s official transaction page.

The Philadelphia Eagles cut Green-Beckham last Friday in order to make room for camp arm Dane Evans.

Green-Beckham’s release surprised no one considering how much he struggled since arriving in Philadelphia. He was especially bad in spring practices this year. The Eagles are also reportedly higher on some of their other young receivers.

It’s no surprise DGB went unclaimed. Any team who claimed him would have been on the hook for his 2017 salary of just under $1 million. It’s possible another team will be willing to take look at the 2015 second-round pick in their training camp at a lower price. It’s very unlikely DGB will have much success elsewhere. He’ll probably get cut again before the season starts.

The Eagles traded for DGB late last summer by shipping Dennis Kelly to Tennessee. It was thought Philadelphia was getting the better side of the deal at the time, especially given their dire wide receiver situation. But DGB turned out to be nothing but a massive flop.
