Ezekiel Elliott was allegedly involved in a late-night altercation at a bar in Dallas on Sunday evening, according to a report from Cowboys insider Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan. More info via CBS Philly:
“The Cowboys are aware of the accusations,” Fisher reported Monday on 105.3 The Fan.
Elliott could still face discipline from the NFL for allegedly abusing a woman last summer.
The NFL will take a look at it, according to Fisher, “these are exact words from a source — ‘accumulative nature of Zeke’s behavior.'”
Last week, one NFL insider reported there’s a “growing sense” Elliott will be suspended for a game or two this season related to last year’s off-field alleged abuse incident.
The league can’t be happy that one of their best young players is making headlines for bad reasons. Along with last year’s incident, Elliott irresponsibly pulled down a woman’s shirt during a parade this year. Now he’s being accused of being involved in a bar altercation.
Elliott is easily the Cowboys’ best player. It would be a significant loss for Dallas if he misses games. And it looks like that could be the case if he doesn’t stay out of trouble.
The Eagles certainly wouldn’t mind seeing their division rivals lose a key player. In what could be a tight NFC East race, Elliott missing a game or two could make a difference in the NFL playoff picture.
Dallas will already be without their best pass rusher for the first four weeks of the 2017 season. One of their starting linebackers was arrested for aggravated assault and potential starting cornerback Nolan Carroll got booked for DWI earlier this offseason. Oh, and the team’s starting quarterback, Dak Prescott, was accused of faking autographs.
Gotta love that culture down in Dallas.
UPDATE: Busted Coverage is reporting Elliott punched a DJ at the bar and knocked him out. They’re also claiming the DJ had to go to the hospital.
