The Eagles commonly held joint training camp practices during Chip Kelly’s tenure in Philadelphia, but the team did not schedule them last year during Doug Pederson’s first year as head coach. Now they’re back.
While announcing their official 2017 training camp schedule on Thursday morning, the Eagles revealed they’ll be hosting the Miami Dolphins in joint practices this summer. The Dolphins will be practicing with the Eagles at the NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia leading up to their third preseason game on August 24.
The Dolphins currently have four former Eagles players on their roster: safety Nate Allen, linebacker Kiko Alonso, cornerback Byron Maxwell, and tight end Chris Pantale. Alonso and Maxwell were notably traded away by Philadelphia last offseason in a deal that ultimately helped the Eagles to get in position to trade up for Carson Wentz.
The Eagles will also get a close up look at one of the head coaching candidates they were rumored to be most interested in prior to hiring Doug Pederson: Miami boss Adam Gase.
Joint training camp practices aren't really a huge deal but they're at least a little interesting. It’s cool to see the Eagles go against new competition in practice.
