Michael Vick retires with Atlanta Falcons

Michael Vick is retired.

This doesn’t come as a surprise since he hasn’t played since the 2015 season, but the veteran quarterback formally retired while being honored in a ceremony held by the Atlanta Falcons on Monday.

It’s fitting that Vick would choose to end his career with Atlanta given how that’s where he got his big start.

With that said, the Vick era in Philadelphia is still quite memorable. The Eagles should always be remembered as the team that gave Vick a second chance. And Vick deserves credit for making the most of that opportunity. After serving his time in prison, he truly showed signs of being a changed man in Philly.

Former Eagles head coach Andy Reid was among the former coaches Vick thanked in his retirement speech on Monday. (Thought it was interesting Chip Kelly was not mentioned. Vick only spent a year with Kelly, but the same was true with Rex Ryan and Mike Tomlin ... and Vick did thank those coaches.)
