Philadelphia Eagles waive a linebacker

The Eagles made a roster move.

The Philadelphia Eagles made a roster move on Thursday morning. The team officially announced they’ve waived linebacker Steven Daniels.

Daniels joined the Eagles early in May after Philadelphia claimed him off waivers from Washington. Washington had originally selected Daniels with a seventh round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

There was some thought Daniels had a chance to make the Eagles’ final roster as a backup. The 5-11, 245 pound defender projects as the kind of thumper middle linebacker Jim Schwartz likes to have.

With Daniels out of the picture, Joe Walker’s chances of making the team look better. Walker showed promise last summer and could earn a spot as Jordan Hicks’ primary backup if he stays healthy. Walker still isn’t fully participating in practice following an ACL tear last August.

The Eagles now have a vacant roster spot. It remains to be seen if Philadelphia will soon look to add another player via signing or trade.
