NFL Mock Draft 2017: ESPN Mel Kiper Final Edition

One last ESPN mock draft

NCAA Football: Vanderbilt at Missouri Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

So it looks like I jumped the gun when I said ESPN released their final mock draft earlier today. That was merely Todd McShay’s final mock draft. Now it’s time for Mel Kiper’s final mock. Philadelphia Eagles fans probably aren’t going to like his pick (via In$ider) ...

Charles Harris, Missouri - If Mike Williams and Christian McCaffrey are off the board, the Eagles could opt to go with a pass-rusher. Harris, who had 16.0 sacks over the past two seasons, is the best in the next tier.

Kiper has the Eagles notably passing over Corey Davis, John Ross, Marlon Humphrey, and Kevin King.

Harris isn’t necessarily my favorite pick for the Eagles by any means, but I definitely think he’s a realistic one. As I’ve pointed out a billion times by now, the Eagles are rumored to take a defensive end in the first round. And Harris is rumored to be one of the five players they’re targeting at No. 14.

Of course, we don’t know how legit those rumors are. But wouldn’t it be so Eagles for them to take Harris? Howie Roseman sure hasn’t shied away from taking defensive linemen in the first round (Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Marcus Smith). I wouldn’t rule it out.

For what it’s worth, Harris doesn’t make it to No. 14 in McShay’s mock draft. He has Harris going No. 11 to the Saints, as does Mike Mayock.

In other mock draft news, a lot of mock drafters suddenly have the Eagles going with Mike Williams at No. 14. That’s who Mayock and McShay have Philadelphia selecting. So does Matt Miller of Bleacher Report. Do they know something they don’t?

Daniel Jermiah of NFL Network, meanwhile, has the Birds going with a defensive end but it’s not Harris. It’s Derek Barnett instead.

Only one thing is certain as tonight approaches: no one seems to know what the Eagles will do for sure. We’ll see how it plays out!
