The 2017 NFL schedule leaks have already begun and there are more on the way. The latest leak comes from the Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, who reports the Philadelphia Eagles will play back-to-back West Coast road games this season. The Eagles are set to play the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 3 in Week 13 and the Los Angeles Rams on Dec. 10 in Week 14.
The Eagles requested to play back-to-back West Coast games this year, but this wasn’t their specific request. The Eagles also have to play the Los Angeles Chargers this season, so I imagine they wanted to play that team and the Rams back-to-back instead. It seems like this Seahawks-Rams situation is a compromise that allows the Eagles to not have to travel back to Philadelphia in-between those games. But it does mean the Eagles will still have to make a separate trip to L.A. at some point to play the Chargers.
In addition, this Seahawks-Rams back-to-back situation seems to set up a three week stretch where the Eagles play on the road. It’s already been reported the Eagles play the Giants in New Jersey on Dec. 17 in Week 15. But it’s not like the Giants’ stadium is so far away from Philadelphia, so it’s not the end of the world. Still, not necessarily ideal either.
To recap, here’s what we’ve heard about the Eagles schedule so far:
Week 3 - versus New York Giants
Week 13 - at Seattle Seahawks
Week 14 - at Los Angeles Rams
Week 15 - at New York Giants
