NFL Mock Draft 2017: New York Giants pick Dion Dawkins

Dion Dawkins, OT, Temple

Dion Dawkins has been the toughest player for Temple in his time there.   Starting 40 consecutive games.   I am quite aware that he has been projected as a early to mid second roundd selection.   However I compare him to Tampa Bay selecting OT Donovan Smith at pick 33 overall.   He was a projected as a late second, early third round guy.   But since then he has justified his selection.   Dawkins is a great fit for the G-men who want a power run game and need versatile linemen who can start day one with a good summer camp.

Football is a big mans' game and they don't get much bigger and or stronger than Dawkins.   Inside he may be best suited as a power guard.   The Giants had him in to do a private workout and word was they really came away impressed with his versatility to play inside or out.   One scout said he looked like a day one starter.

Baltimore is also very high on Dion.   Their thoughts were very very strong at the point of attack, but showed quick feet.   He looks like he could become a pro bowl OG in the right system.   And a solid OT.

Team leader, Smart and works very hard at his craft.
The kind of person you want in the locker room.

I see him having a long and very good career.

I compare this also to the Boys selecting Travis Fredrick in round one.   We all laughed and laughed....   remember ...?
