Hold both your hands in front of you. (JPP don’t read this.) You should have ten fingers. That’s not even enough to count how many days until the Draft, which is twelve.
So we still have quite a bit of time on our hands. Let’s use a little of it to see what mock drafters are up to.
Chad has a six round mock. Chad, there are seven rounds in the NFL Draft. This is unacceptable. You got this far, don’t quit now.
1 - WR Mike Williams, Clemson
2 - CB Adoree’ Jackson, USC
3 - DE Derek Rivers, Youngstown State
4 - OT Connor McDermott, UCLA
4 - CB Benjamin Langley, Lamar
5 - RB Brian Hill, Wyoming
6 - DT Ryan Glasgow, Michigan
This hits a lot of the right notes, at least in terms of positions. Two weapons for Carson Wentz, two cornerbacks, a pass rusher, a developmental DT, and then in the 7th nothing because Chad didn’t want to do one more round. Boo this man.
Dieter only went with four rounds. If he stopped at three, that could at least be somewhat justified by being the first two days of the draft. But once you’re into day three, keep going. Maybe these guys have commitment issues?
1 - CB Gareon Conley, Ohio State
2 - DE Jordan Willis, Kansas State
3 - RB Samaje Perine, Oklahoma
4 - OT Julie’n Davenport, Bucknell
RJ did only three rounds, but I have to give him a slight pass since I just said that three rounds is mildly defensible. On the other hand, at this stage in the draft lead up, go all the way. You should be confident in your evaluations by now.
1 - CB Gareon Conley, Ohio State
2 - RB Alvin Kamara, Tennesee
3 - WR Chad Hansen, California
In what I must assume is a typo, White lists “QB” as a top need for the Eagles, he must mean CB. Or he’s just insane. That’s possible. He also has the Eagles trading up in the 2nd round with the Chargers to take Kamara, who he says is will get 18-20 touches a game, which he might in the pros but in college he only did that 4 times in his career. Hard to see the Eagles trading up to take him.
Matt only did the first two rounds. These guys are lagging.
1 - CB Quincy Wilson, Florida
2 - WR John Ross, Washington
John Ross in the 2nd? Mood:
At this rate we have to finish with a one round mock. Or maybe then a zero round mock draft? Nothing is something. Let’s compromise and go with one round by a zero.
Pete Prisco, CBS - CB Tre’Davious White, LSU
They have to get an upgrade at corner. White is one of the corners the scouts like more than draftniks.
Just draft nothing but LSU corners.
