UPDATE: CSN Philly’s Derrick Gunn confirmed Witherspoon’s visit with the Eagles. Original story below.
Colorado cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon is seemingly meeting with the Eagles on a pre-draft visit in Philadelphia, according to his Instagram story. Witherspoon recently posted a picture of his visit with the 49ers, posted another picture with the caption “Where to next[?]” after that, and then finally posted a picture of himself with his location as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Visual evidence below.

If Witherspoon is in Philadelphia to meet the Eagles, he would count as one of the team’s top 30 official pre-draft visits leading up to the 2017 NFL Draft. The Eagles have shown a lot of interest in cornerbacks this offseason given their need at the position, so Witherspoon visiting the Birds certainly makes sense. The Eagles also met with Witherspoon at the 2017 NFL Combine.
The 22-year-old Witherspoon has a good combination of size and athleticism for his position. He measures in at 6-3, 198 pounds. Check out his spider graph below (his top comparison is Richard Sherman!)
Witherspoon played in 29 games for Colorado over the last three years. He recorded 71 tackles, three interceptions, one forced fumble, and a whopping 24 passes defensed. 19 of those passes defensed came last year alone. That’s where his size and those long arms of his really come in hand.
BGN’s cornerback rankings have Witherspoon rated as the 10th best corner in this year’s deep class.
Despite being the less heralded of the Colorado cornerback duo, Ahkello Witherspoon is a better prospect. While he does not have Awuzie's overall savvy, he has great size, athletic ability and ball skills. He could stand to be a more physical run defender, but the tools as a cover man are all there for Witherspoon.
Witherspoon is projected to be a Day 2 pick. If they draft him, the Eagles could hope for him to come in right away and compete for a starting job on the outside.
For more on Witherspoon, listen to BGN Radio’s interview with him. Also check out this scouting report from NFL.com that compares him to a current Eagles player. Hm.
NFL Comparison: Patrick Robinson
Bottom Line: Possesses a rare combination of size and speed and saw his ball production take a substantial leap this season. Witherspoon played just one season of high school football so his technique and route awareness should continue to improve. Witherspoon's length and his ability to mirror and match in space should launch him into early playing time, but his unwillingness to tackle and hit will be a complete turn-off for some teams.
