The first domino in the free agent wide receiver market has fallen: the New York Giants are signing Brandon Marshall, reports Adam Schefter.
Brandon Marshall and NY Giants reach agreement on a two-year deal, per source. Marshall doesn’t have to move, now plays with Eli and OBJ.

Marshall was released by the Jets last week, but as Schefter notes, he didn’t go far—he won’t even play in a different stadium.
Schefter also reports that the deal is worth $12 million over the two years, which is a pay cut from the $7.5 million he would have been owed by the Jets. Marshall had a very down year in 2016, but the Jets putrid QB situation certainly had a big impact, and he’s just two years removed from one of the best seasons in his career.
There were some loose connections with the Eagles with new wide receivers coach Mike Groh having previously coached Marshall with the Bears, but it’s clear that those connections weren’t strong enough and that Marshall wanted to stay in New York.
