Gareon Conley seemingly met with Eagles in Philadelphia for a pre-draft visit

Eagles showing interest in another cornerback.

It seems like we might be able to add Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley to the Eagles’ list of 30 official pre-draft visits. Conley posted an Instagram live update of himself at the Philadelphia airport this week (hat tip to BGN reader @doglasspeterson).

It would make sense that the Eagles are showing interest in Conley. Some, such as Mel Kiper, believe he could be in play at Philadelphia’s No. 14 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Birds have an obvious need for more cornerback talent.

The athletic Conley measures in at 6-0, 195 pounds. He played 35 games at Ohio State and finished with 91 tackles, 15 passes defensed, and six interceptions.

BGN’s Ben Natan ranks Conley as the third best corner in this year’s class behind fellow Buckeye defender Marshon Lattimore and the injured Sidney Jones.

A part of Ohio State's magnificent secondary, Gareon Conley is an outstanding athlete and cover cornerback. His speed and size is exactly what NFL teams want on the perimeter of their defenses. The only thing keeping him from being the best cornerback in the class is the fact that he is a truly atrocious tackler and the lack of effort and physicality he brings to the run game is a defensive liability. The fact that he is that bad as a run defender and still be ranked this high should say something about how good he is in coverage.
