Let's get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...
Lawlor: Eagles Mock Draft Version 1.0 - PE.com
First Round (No. 14 Overall): WR John Ross - Washington (5-11, 188 pounds) - Ross broke the Scouting Combine record for the fastest 40-yard dash when he ran a blazing 4.22 time in February. It is easy to focus on his speed, but Ross is more than a one-trick pony. He is a skilled receiver. Ross runs good routes and knows how to take advantage of his speed. He isn't big, but can be tough and physical at times. Ross was a dominant player in 2016, hauling in 17 touchdown receptions and helping Washington to get to the College Football Playoffs. He ran the ball eight times and averaged 13 yards per run. Ross is a threat every time the ball is in his hands. He returned four kickoffs for touchdowns in his career.
Pre-Draft Rookie Rankings - Rotoworld
7. John Ross, Washington -- Ross cemented himself as a top-three wideout prospect by setting a new Combine record in the forty (4.22) and further confirming his explosiveness with an 11-foot-1 broad jump, third best among all receivers in Indy. Ross’ track record of production is limited with only one college season above 400 yards, but his talent isn’t in question. His biggest red flag is durability. Ross’ collegiate injuries included a torn right meniscus, microfracture surgery, a torn left ACL and meniscus, and a torn labrum in his shoulder, which Ross had repaired immediately after the Combine. Ross stands 5-foot-10, 188 with tiny hands (8 ¾”) and questions about his ability to beat physical press coverage. In fantasy terms, Ross profiles as a volatile contributor who is unlikely to command heavy target volume.
Draft Profile – Washington Wide Receiver John Ross - Philly Football Talk
The Philadelphia Eagles are in dire need of more offensive playmakers. Alshon Jeffery was a fantastic signing, Torrey Smith is still a question mark, and Jordan Matthews may leave after next season if the Eagles do not want to drop the cash to get him. Allow me to reintroduce you guys to the University of Washington’s John Ross. This Long Beach, California product is not only a speed threat on the field but he can impact the game with or without the ball in his hands in many ways. Let’s take a closer look at how Ross can truly make this Eagles offense special. One of the first things I look at when it comes to WRs on the perimeter is whether or not he can beat man press. If you have all the talent in the world but can not beat press coverage you will not be able to succeed in this league.
Lurie likely to break silence on Eagles - Inquirer
It has been a quiet year for Jeffrey Lurie. The Eagles owner didn't fire a coach, he didn't shake up his front office and he stayed mostly out of the picture. In fact, it has been just a few days more than a year since he last spoke publicly. But Lurie is expected to break his silence this week during the NFL owners meetings, likely on Tuesday. The relative inactivity on the Eagles' front hasn't exactly necessitated a news conference, but his absence in front of microphones is notable for its length. Lurie is believed to have never stayed away from reporters for as long.
No Perfect Solution - Iggles Blitz
There is nothing the Eagles “must do”, beyond adding a pair of CBs. The Eagles have a lot of flexibility beyond that. We can talk about the Eagles needing to add a pass rusher. What we really mean is the Eagles would like to add a pass rusher to get better. The 2003 Eagles went to the NFC title game with Brandon Whiting, Marco Coleman and Ndukwe Kalu as the DEs. You and I might be furious if the Eagles spent their first couple of picks on OT Garrett Boles and TE Adam Shaheen. But what if those guys turned into Joe Thomas and Rob Gronkowski? You have to be able to think big picture when it comes to the draft. Need certainly plays a part, but the goal is to add the most talented players so that you can build a great roster over time.
Momentous Change Will Mark NFL Annual Meetings - The MMQB
I think it was smart for Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to write for Time about autism, and what our elected officials should do about it. Lurie speaks cogently about the bitter divisiveness in Washington and then about the disease that is felt in so many American families: “We have the opportunity, right now, to do what America is great at: devoting the best minds and necessary resources to tackle the human puzzles that cause so much suffering. Artificial intelligence, computer science, advanced data mining, biomedical science, genetics … the list goes on and on where our country is at the forefront and our people are ready to engage. All we are lacking is leadership. Imagine if Republicans and Democrats put down their swords just for a day to create a comprehensive multi-disciplinary, multi-occupational effort to solve the mysteries of Autism and uncover groundbreaking treatments.” Smart, and needed, writing by a voice that should be heard.
NFL says injury data shows protections for quarterbacks are working - PFT
According to Peter King of TheMMQB.com, starting quarterbacks missed a total of just 35 games in 2016, a significant reduction from the 59 games missed in 2015, 77 in 2014 and 76 in 2013. The league thinks that shows defensive players are learning not to hit quarterbacks illegally, and referees are focusing more on the safety of quarterbacks.
T.O. takes character criticism personally - ESPN
Terrell Owens is offended by people who have been critical of his character since he became eligible for the Hall of Fame.
Draft Daily: Non-Power-5 edge prospects worth keeping an eye on - PFF
I can’t think of a better non-Power-5 edge class in recent memory. It may not have a Khalil Mack, but there are more than a handful of prospects that will be off the board before Day 2 of the draft comes to a close. We didn’t include non-FBS guys in our first rankings because of a lack of data, but here are some of my notes so far on non-Power-5 guys who could go early.
Are the Bears the new Browns? - SB Nation
Self-inflicted quarterback futility? Check. Chicago’s one Tim Couch away from replacing the Browns as the NFL’s sorriest franchise.
