In addition to releasing updated 2018 Super Bowl odds, Bovada also posted some over/under player stat predictions for the 2017 NFL season. Newest Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is on the list.
Receiving yards: 950
Here’s a look at Jeffery’s career receiving yards by season.
2012 - 367
2013 - 1,421
2014 - 1,133
2015 - 807
2016 - 821
Jeffery wasn’t a full-time player as a rookie in 2012; he only made six starts in 10 games played. Factoring out that outlier year, he’s averaged 1,045.5 yards per season over his career. That number would be even higher if he didn’t miss seven games in 2015 and four in 2016.
But that’s the downside. Jeffery is a risk to miss games due to soft-tissue injury issues he’s battled throughout his career. He’s also one PEDs suspension away from missing 10 games.
Taking the over with Jeffery here doesn’t come without risk, but I feel confident he’ll get above 950. He’s going to be the No. 1 target in this Eagles offense. There’s no one else good enough on the team to steal away major targets from him.
You also have to remember Jeffery is playing on a one-year deal. He’s going to want up to put a big season in order to secure a long-term contract next offseason.
One Bears writer recently told Bleeding Green Nation he wouldn’t be surprised to see Jeffery put up at least 1,000 yards this season.
Touchdowns: 6.5
Here’s a look at Jeffery’s career touchdowns by season.
2012 - 3
2013 - 7
2014 - 10
2015 - 4
2016 - 2
As you can see, Jeffery has only gone over 6.5 touchdowns twice before. He’s logged 26 touchdowns in 63 games played, which is an average of .412. At that rate, he’s averaging 6.6 touchdowns over a 16-game span.
This touchdown over /under isn’t as easy of a call as the yards prop is. It’s not like the Eagles have a lot of great red zone threats on the roster, though, so he’ll certainly get looks down from Carson Wentz there. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to take a chance on Alshon hitting the over.
Our Bears writer friend projected 10 tuddies for Jeffery in 2017.

Isn’t it great to have a wide receiver on the Eagles who is at least even for the discussion for these kind of numbers?
