Philadelphia Eagles announce new jersey numbers for Alshon Jeffery and other players

Here’s who will be wearing what.

NFL: Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles announced some jersey number changes on Monday following their signings in 2017 NFL free agency.

The big news is that Alshon Jeffery will be wearing No. 17, his number with the Bears, after all. Jeffery originally said he was going to “leave that [number] in Chicago” and let Nelson Agholor, who wore No. 17 because of Jeffery, keep it. Maybe he changed his mind, or maybe Agholor wanted to give it to him. In any case, Agholor will be wearing lucky No. 13 now. Last worn by Josh Huff.

The last great Eagles wide receiver to wear No. 17 was none other than Harold Carmichael. Jeffery figures to do that number proud.

In other news, Torrey Smith will be wearing No. 82. That’s what he wore with the Ravens and 49ers. Let’s hope he’s better than the last Eagles wide receiver to wear that number: Rueben Randle. Let’s also hope he’s better than the last Eagles player with the same last name to wear No. 82: L.J. Smith. 2016 practice squad tight end Anthony Denham was wearing No. 82 before the Eagles signed Torrey so the poor guy had to switch to No. 83.

New guard Chance Warmack will wear No. 67. He wore No. 65 in college and No. 70 in the NFL so this is right in the middle of those options. Dennis Kelly (now with the Titans, Warmack’s former team) was the last Eagles player to wear that. It was Jamaal Jackson before Kelly.

Nick Foles’ number hasn’t been officially announced but his old No. 9 jersey is available so I’m assuming he’ll take that.

Returning tight end Trey Burton decided to change his number despite not needing to. He used to be No. 47 and now he’s No. 88. Last worn by Jeff Maehl.

Here’s a simple summary of what I just said if you’re too lazy to read it all.

Alshon Jeffery - No. 17
Nelson Agholor - No. 13
Torrey Smith - No. 82
Anthony Denham - No. 83
Chance Warmack - No. 67
Trey Burton - No. 88
Nick Foles - No. 9 (Not official but probably going to happen)
