Alshon Jeffery says Carson Wentz is going to be NFL MVP one day

Bold.

NFL: Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Alshon Jeffery arrived in Philadelphia on Friday morning after signing a one-year, $14 million contract with the Eagles on Thursday. CSN’s Jon Clark was there at the airport (as he always is) to be the first to very briefly interview him. Clark only got two questions in, but Jeffery’s second response was great.

Q: Why’d you sign with the Eagles?

JEFFERY: “I think it was the best decision for me and my family. Also it’s a great situation.”

Q: Did Carson Wentz factor into your decision to sign?

JEFFERY: [smiling] “He had a lot to do with my decision. He’s a great quarterback. Sky’s the limit for him. He’s going to be a future MVP.”

You heard it from Alshon first, folks. Carson Wentz: future NFL MVP.

Hyperbole or not, Jeffery did reportedly want to sign with the Eagles due to Wentz’s presence in Philadelphia. The wide receiver reportedly turned down a lucrative multi-year offer from the Vikings (hey there, Sammy Sleeves) to play with the Eagles instead.

Wentz obviously has a long way to go before he’s going to be considered in the MVP conversation. But now that he has weapons like Jeffery to work with, who knows! At the very least, he’s closer now than he was before.
