The Philadelphia Eagles are out on the West Coast for the first tilt of a three-game road stretch. Sunday’s matchup features a battle against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football.
And what a battle it projects to be.
The reality is that the Seahawks aren’t entirely what they used to be. With Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor out for the season, injuries have taken a toll. Seattle’s home-field advantage looks a little less intimdating after they’ve dropped two straight games at CenturyLink Field.
But this is still the Seahawks we’re talking about here. It’s still Pete Carroll. It’s still Russell Wilson. Earl Thomas is still lining up on the back end of the defense. This Seattle squad currently wouldn’t make the 2018 playoffs if the season ended today. They’re only one game back in the NFC West so they have a lot to play for.
The Eagles do as well. Philadelphia can officially clinch the NFC East with a win today. The Eagles also need to keep winning in order to maintain their position as the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture.
This game should be fun. It feels like it’s been forever since the Eagles have played what projects to be a competitive game. Quite frankly, Philadelphia has beaten the crap out of their last three opponents. They’ve won by exactly 28 points in those matchups.
The Eagles probably won’t be able to do that against the Seahawks. That has nothing to do with doubting Philly and everything to do with recognizing the fact that the Seahawks almost always take their opponents down to the wire.
This game will be an early playoff atmosphere test for the Eagles. A national audience will be waiting to see how they respond.
Here's everything you need to know about how to watch the game.
