The Philadelphia Eagles released their third and final official injury report on Friday in advance of their Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys. Note that the team actually practiced at Lincoln Financial Field — not the NovaCare Complex — since the stadium field is heated.
The Eagles ruled out two players for Sunday’s game: starting defensive end Brandon Graham and linebacker Joe Walker.
Graham’s absence is expected. He’s been out of practice all week after suffering an ankle injury on Monday night. His absence will open up more playing time for Derek Barnett, Chris Long, and Steven Means.
Walker being ruled out is interesting. He wasn’t even listed on the injury report this week until now, although Doug Pederson did say he’s still dealing with a neck issue. The feeling here is the Eagles could move Walker to injured reserve in order to free up a roster spot for Sidney Jones.
Speaking of Jones, he hasn’t been officially activated yet (as of the publish time of this post), but there’s a sense it could happen. It’d be pretty cool to see the Eagles’ 2017 second-round pick make his NFL debut this weekend.
Playing Jones could especially make sense since starting cornerback Jalen Mills is questionable due to a nagging ankle injury. It might be best to rest Mills anyway. Doing so could free up playing time for Jones in the process.
Starting left guard Stefen Wisniewski is expected to make his return to the lineup this week. He missed the last two games with an ankle injury but Pederson said Wis needs to get some action this week.
As far as resting players goes, Pederson did say that he wants all the starters in play in Week 17. The expectation is that they won’t play for the entire game, however.
