Eagles Injury Report: Brandon Graham sits out of practice

The Philadelphia Eagles released their first official injury report on Wednesday in advance of their Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles held a walk-through instead of a full practice, so note that today’s injury report is an estimation.

Brandon Graham is the only player who did not participate in practice. The starting defensive end suffered an ankle injury on Monday night. After the game, Graham indicated the injury isn’t serious. Doug Pederson also said as much on Tuesday.

He’s OK. He’s going to be day-to-day. It’s unfortunate, ankle and all that. But we’ll get him where he needs to be and see where he is at the end of the week.

It’s a no-brainer decision for the Eagles to rest Graham in a meaningless game against Dallas. He’ll have plenty of time to recover for the Eagles’ first playoff matchup on January 13 or 14.

Five Eagles players were listed as full participants in practice: starting left guard Stefen Wisniewski, starting cornerback Jalen Mills, starting left tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai, defensive end Derek Barnett, and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe.

Mills had to come out of the Eagles-Raiders game for several snaps but it seems like he’s not going to miss time moving forward.

It’s good to see Wisniewski listed as a full participant. Pederson said he expects Wis to be able to play in the Eagles’ first playoff game.

There are no significant concerns about Vaitai, Barnett, or Ellerbe.

Since we’re talking about practice, it’s worth noting that Sidney Jones is beginning his third week of training with the team. This is the last week Jones can practice without being on the 53-man roster.

On Tuesday, Pederson did not rule out activating Jones for Sunday’s game. Here’s what Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz had to say about Jones on Wednesday.

Q. How close is CB Sidney Jones, just based on what you've seen in practice, to being ready to play?

JIM SCHWARTZ: I don't know, that's not for me to say. I know mentally and technique wise and things like that, he's trending the right way, but let's not mistake what we're doing for brain surgery or anything. He's been around since OTAs. He should know what to do. He's worked really hard for the opportunity if that comes. I'm very confident that he'll be ready.

It’d be cool to see Jones get on the field this week. The Eagles will have to make a roster move in order to free up a spot for him.
