The Philadelphia Eagles made a change to their 10-man practice squad on Wednesday. The team released center Jon Toth in order to bring back wide receiver/returner Rashard Davis.
Toth was signed to the practice squad earlier this month. The rookie center has an interesting story. A number of draft analysts expected him to be selected in the 2017 NFL Draft before a sudden back injury derailed his NFL hopes.
But now Toth’s dream is over again. For now, at least. The Eagles cut him in order to re-sign Davis, who was released on December 14 to make room for the return of Bryce Treggs. Davis originally joined the team late in training camp. He’s bounced on and off the practice squad this season.
In addition to the six receivers on their 53-man roster, Philadelphia also now has three more on the practice squad.
