Boom! The Philadelphia Eagles have signed wide receiver Alshon Jeffery to a four-year contact extension, according to an official announcement from the team.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reports the deal is worth $52 million and includes $1 million per year in incentives. Ian Rapoport reports the contract contains $27 million guaranteed.

Two weeks ago, we noted that Eagles insider Dave Spadaro said he believed the Eagles would re-sign another player before the 2017 season was over. He was correct.

The Eagles originally signed Jeffery to a one-year contract worth up to $14 million in free agency earlier this year in March. Now that the two sides have gotten to better know each other, they’ve reached a long-term agreement.

In 11 games with Philadelphia this season, Jeffery has logged 43 receptions for 619 yards and seven touchdowns. He also leads the NFL in two-point conversions scored with three.

Jeffery got off to a slowish start this season, which might be attributed to a lack of familiarity with the offense. He’s really started to heat up recently, however, with 17 receptions for 265 yards and five touchdowns in his last four games.

In addition to his on-field production, Jeffery has really become a valued member of the locker room. He’s the one responsible for organizing Philly’s touchdown celebrations. As his post-Cowboys game comments indicated, it’s very clear he enjoys being on this team.

Jeffery’s presence gives Carson Wentz a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver to work with. Now the two will be together in Philly for the foreseeable future.

Philadelphia Eagles statement:

“Alshon has been a tremendous addition to this organization on and off the field. We place a priority on making sure we are able to build the team around quality players like Alshon who embrace this team and this city the way he has. We are excited about his future here.”

Alshon Jeffery statement:

“First of all I just want to thank Jeffrey Lurie and the entire Eagles organization. Like I said the other day, I love it here. I’m blessed to have the opportunity to play for this organization and for these fans. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and now I’m looking forward to being here for a long time. We have a great group here and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
