There have been a couple updates on the injury situations of the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys prior to their Week 11 game on Sunday Night Football.
ALSHON JEFFERY
For the Eagles, NFL insider Adam Schefter reports Alshon Jeffery is expected to play against Dallas.
Jeffery was ruled questionable for Sunday night’s game after popping up on the injury report this week with an ankle injury. Jeffery said he was going to play in this game and Doug Pederson echoed that optimism. Jeffery was a full participant in Friday’s practice.
Jeffery isn’t putting up the big stats that peopled expected but he’s still been contributing to the Eagles’ offense. His presence alone is a threat to defenses. He’s also had some of his best games in recent weeks, so we’ll see Carson Wentz can keep that connection going.
TYRON SMITH
Earlier this week, it was reported that Tyron Smith was going to miss this week’s Eagles-Cowboys game. Dallas ruled him questionable on Friday, however, so they weren’t willing to officially rule him out.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport is now also reporting Smith is out for this week’s game.
That’s obviously a big loss for the Cowboys. Dallas completely failed to protect Dak Prescott in Smith’s absence last week. Byron Bell will start at left tackle. The Cowboys were originally playing Chaz Green in place of Smith but he struggled so much (five sacks allowed) that they had to get him off the field.
The Eagles’ defense leads the NFL in generating pressure. They need to take advantage of Smith’s absence and disrupt Prescott on Sunday night.
