Will Beatty wasn’t the only offensive lineman the Eagles worked out this week

Earlier this week, the Philadelphia Eagles added more depth at offensive tackle by inking veteran blocker Will Beatty to a one-year contract. Beatty wasn’t the only player the Eagles brought to Philly for a workout, however. The team also gave a look to Jeremiah Poutasi.

Poutasi, 23, was a third round pick by the Tennessee Titans in the 2015 NFL Draft. He started seven games in 11 appearances with the Titans before being cut in 2016. Poutasi was then picked up by the Jaguars but he only played in one game for Jacksonville. The Jags waived him in final cuts this summer.

The Eagles could have signed the younger Poutasi. They instead went with Beatty, who turns 33 in March. The veteran doesn’t have any potential “upside” but he could be more of a proven/experienced option in a pinch.

Shortly after working out for the Eagles, Poutasi signed a deal with the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad.
