Earlier today, I wrote about how it was funny that retired NFL wide receiver Calvin Johnson was spotted on a plane to Philadelphia shortly before a report emerged that the Lions have interest in trading him.
Then this happened:
#Eagles in pursuit of another weapon for #Wentz...hearing they are aggressively pursuing the rights for Calvin Johnson. #Megatron #GC

Whoa, Megatron to the Eagles?! Is this legit?
No, of course not. Check out what Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk had to say.
The Eagles added some significant offensive weapons in the offseason. A new report indicates they’d like to add another offensive weapon during the season. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, however, that report isn’t true.
Steven Albritton of KMBC in Kansas City reports that the Eagles are “aggressively pursuing” the rights for retired Lions receiver Calvin Johnson. Again, the source says that’s not the case.
No surprise here. The 32-year-old Johnson has been out of football for two years now. He’s probably not coming back.
And even if he does return to football, it seems very unlikely the Eagles would give up assets for him when they’re really not desperate for wide receiver help.
Moving along.
