FIRST QUARTER
Eagles win the coin toss and elect to defer, as always. 49ers up on offense first. The rain has died down here at The Linc after being pretty heavy leading up to kickoff. No major wind either.
Joe Walker gets the start at middle linebacker in base defense with Jordan Hicks out for the year. The 49ers run the ball on their first play and there’s noting going. Then C.J. Beathard connects with Garrett Celek (Brent Celek’s brother) for a considerable gain. Covering tight ends with Hicks out is going to be a challenge. Philly forces a stop on third down around midfield but Derek Barnett is flagged for being offside. Malcolm Jenkins bails the rookie out by breaking up a pass over the middle on the next play. 49ers punt.
Three straights runs with LeGarrette Blount to open the game as the Eagles move the chains. Carson Wentz threads a pass to Nelson Agholor in tight coverage. Beauty. Lane Johnson false starts on 3rd-and-5. Not so great. Wentz avoids a sack (pressure allowed by Johnson) and scrambles for a yard but the Eagles have to punt.
Vinny Curry picks up a tackle for loss on a series where the 49ers go three-and-out. Punt.
Wentz’s pass to Alshon Jeffery is batted down. Then Wentz runs for an 8-yard gain. On third down, Wentz hits Zach Ertz for a first. Another third down, Wentz hits Trey Burton to move the Eagles into field goal range. Halapoulivaati Vaitai gets blown up on a sweep to Corey Clement and the play goes for a 3-yard loss. Wentz has Jeffery open up the seam in the end zone ... but misses him. Ball sails too far out in front. Overthrow. Should have been a touchdown. Probably didn’t help that Solomon Thomas was hitting him as he threw. Eagles settle for a 40-yard Jake Elliott field goal. It’s good. Eagles lead, 3-0.
49ers go three-and-out again. Eagles defense doing a pretty good job early on.
Wentz gets sacked on second down. Refs completely miss a blatant facemask call. Wentz’s third down pass is incomplete. Eagles struggling to pick up blitzes from the 49ers.
SECOND QUARTER
Another three-and-out for the 49ers. More great run defense from the Birds. Kyle Shanahan decides to punt on 4th-and-4 from the Niners’ 38-yard line. Soft. I never wanna hear people complain about Doug Pederson being too aggressive.
Eagles take over at their own 2-yard line. Eagles get to 3rd-and-1 but lose three yards. Punt.
The rain returns as the 49ers take over. San Fran is down to their third string right tackle (guard Zane Beadles) with Trent Brown being ruled out for this game and Garry Gilliam leaving early with a knee injury. Beathard throws behind Aldrick Robinson as Patrick Robinson is tackling the wide receiver (Robinson on Robinson crime). The result is a tipped pass that gets picked off by Rodney McLeod. Big play by the D. P-Rob has been great this year.
Eagles take over at their own 46-yard line. Wentz is sacked. Blount runs for no gain. Screen pass to Kenjon Barner on 3rd-and-16 goes for four yards. Punt. Offensive line hasn’t been good in this one, and it’s not like Vaitai is the only reason why. By the way: Wendell Smallwood hasn’t played yet.
The 49ers pick up a first down but then Fletcher Cox sacks Beathard on 3rd-and-6. Punt.

Wentz targets Mack Hollins for a 6-yard gain. Every time Wentz targets him, something good happens. Case in point: Wentz targets Hollins again to put the Eagles in field goal range. Then Wentz is sacked for a 7-yard loss. Held onto the ball for a long time and Vaitai got beat. Eagles run for a 2-yard gain with Blount on 2nd-and-17. Maybe stop running on 2nd-and-long, especially with Blount in the shotgun. Wentz targets Torrey Smith in the end zone and it’s batted down, but not before pass interference is called. Eagles get the ball at the 1-yard line and Wentz floats a touchdown pass to Zach Ertz. Too easy. Elliott misses the extra point, gasp! Eagles lead, 9-0.

Wentz to a wide open Ertz. Elliott missed the XP#Eagles 9 #Niners 0https://t.co/Ld4P2O7Bb7
49ers take over with 1:51 left in the half at their own 25. Brandon Graham immediately sacks Beathard. Big mismatch for Beadles out there. 3rd-and-7 ... Beathard is picked off! Jalen Mills makes the play and then reverses field for the score. Great job by him on that return. Wentz hits Jeffery in the end zone for the 2-point conversion. Suddenly it’s a three possession game. Eagles lead, 17-0.

Nigel Bradham pushes Pierre Garcon out of bounds hard and the veteran wide receiver is hurt. Bradham also accidentally took out Eagles linebacker coach Ken Flajole. Yikes. Cart comes out for him. Beathard attempts a Hail Mary on the final play of the first half but it’s incomplete. Credit Alshon with the pass breakup.
THIRD QUARTER
Patrick Robinson, who left earlier with a head injury, gets ruled out for the game. Not great for Philly’s defense.
Eagles get the ball to start the second half. Vaitai gets called for holding. Wentz targets Smallwood on 2nd down. Seemingly his first appearance in the game so far. That’s curious. Wentz gets pressured on 3rd down and his pass is incomplete. Punt. Hollins does a great job of notching a solo special teams tackle on the punt returner. He can do it all.
49ers go three-and-out. Tim Jernigan did a real nice job of notching a tackle for loss with just one hand while someone was blocking him. Beast.
Eagles linebacker coach Ken Flajole returns to the sideline after being taken out earlier. The 63-year-old is a tough dude.
Wentz takes a big shot on second down. Then he hands it off for a 5-yard on 3rd-and-8. Three-and-out. Punt. Great boot from Donnie Jones to pin the 49ers deep in their own territory at the 3-yard line. Ball downed by Dexter McDougle.
Another 49ers three-and-out. Great pressure by the defensive line.
Eagles take over at their 49-yard line. Wentz’s pass to Ertz leads the tight end too far out of bounds. Incomplete. He fires right back to the tight end for a first down. Wentz’s third down pass for Jeffery goes through the receiver’s hand. Eagles settle for a 51-yard field goal ... and it’s good. Nice kick. The rookie is 5 for 6 from 50+ this year. Eagles lead, 20-0.
Beathard scrambles to put the 49ers in 3rd-and-1. Eagles stop them. Punt.
Blount run for a 4-yard loss. Wentz tipped pass falls incomplete. Wentz throws right to a 49ers defender on third down. Uh, that was very bad. Looks like Hollins just stopped running his route?
49ers take over at the Eagles’ 21-yard line. Shovel pass from Beathard to Matt Breida goes for a touchdown. There goes the shutout. Eagles lead, 20-7.
Clement takes a carry up the middle for 22 yards. Then Wentz chucks it deep to Jeffery and the wide receiver makes the jump ball catch! Hey! And then he runs it into the end zone for a touchdown! There’s the Alshon we’ve all been waiting to see. Way to respond after a bad turnover. Eagles lead, 27-7.
Wentz to Alshon! 53 yard tuddy!#Eagles up 27-7 over the #Ninershttps://t.co/TvcF10VeJS

49ers respond with up-tempo and move to the red zone.
FOURTH QUARTER
Cox almost picks off a Beathard screen pass in the red zone but Hyde knocks it out of his hands. Close one. Kendricks breaks up a pass on third down. Beathard’s third down pass is thrown out of bounds. For some reason, the 49ers go for a field goal down 20. And it’s blocked! Barnett blocks the kick and then recovers it as well. Awesome effort by the rookie defensive end.

Derek Barnett blocks it!#Eagles still up 27-7https://t.co/OYgMsMAO1O
Eagles take over at their own 38-yard line. The Eagles dink-and-dunk their way to move into field goal range. Wentz misses high on a wide-open Brent Celek. Then an 11-yard Blount run puts the Eagles in the red zone. Then Blount runs it 12 yards for a touchdown. Elliott misses another extra point. Not great, but still a four possession game with 10:22 to go. Eagles lead, 33-7.

Chris Long sacks Beathard on third down to force 4th-and-12. Or not. The refs say the 49ers called a timeout before the play, lol. That’s terrible. Beathard hits Trent Taylor to convert on 3rd-and-5. Rasul Douglas breaks up a deep pass meant for Robinson. Nice play by the rookie. Graham sacks Beathard but gets called for a facemask. It was a violent hit for sure, but it wasn’t a facemask. Then Curry gets in on the party and sacks Beathard. This is just brutal. 49ers settle for a field goal to make it a three possession game with 5:20 left. Eagles lead, 33-10.
Nick Foles enters the game. It’s time for the backups. Chance Warmack comes in at left guard with Stefen Wisniewski moving to center. Clement runs for a first down. And then another to essentially ice the game. Victory formation.
FINAL SCORE
Eagles win by a score of 33 to 10! Six in a row. The Birds are 7-1.
